Merit Marks The USPS Merit Mark recommendations are designed to recognize individual meritorious service during the calendar year. The Merit Mark nominations are generally submitted by a Squadron Officer or Committee Chair who is assigned tasks for a specific functions or events throughout the year. The Toledo Sail and Power Squadron will initiate a “Self Acclaimed” Merit Mark Program where each and every member who has participated in events or functions assign a value that they feel is worthy of recognition by the Merit Mark Committee. A running list is compiled of nominees and submitted to the Squadron Commander for review who then forwards those names to the Chief Commander whom further reviews the efforts. It is the Chief Commander who determines satisfactorily acknowledgement of Merit Mark recipients. The criteria for individuals to realize it amounts to only ten (10) hours of personal time dedicated to the Toledo Power Squadron to bring forth exposure of Public Safe Boating Education. Listed below are some simple recommendations that will qualify you for due recognition;
Be creative about your efforts. If you performed anything that further promotes Toledo Power Squadron’s well being, tell us about it. If you can’t identify your own efforts, don’t expect an Officer or Committee Chair to remember everyone and everything occurring during the year.
